Chichester Board of Selectmen
SELECTMEN’S MINUTES  
March 1,  2005

Present:  Chairman Colbert. Selectman DeBold and Patty Wooster, Administrative Assistant.  Selectman MacCleery was absent.  Chairman Colbert opened the meeting at 7:10PM.

SUBJECT:  Mr. Jaan Luikmil

HIGHLIGHTS:

Mr. Luikmil met with the Board regarding ideas for Old Home Day.  The theme for Old Home Day is Farm Day.  Mr. Luikmil stated that he has hired a country western band, Karen Morgan and the Pony Express.  There will be square dancing, a parade, a auction and fireworks. Mr. Luikmil shared with the Board that there is a new sport that seems to be up and coming.  The new sport is Antique Tractor Pulling.  Mr. Luikmil said the Old Home Day Committee is very interested in having this event for Old Home Day, which is scheduled for August 20, 2005.  The talent contest is scheduled for August 19, 2005 and the rain date for the fireworks is August 21, 2005.  

Mr. Luikmil met with some members of the Antique Tractor Pulling Team.  He said there are about 60 tractors that compete.  He said the tractors are hooked up to cement blocks that are placed on flat sheets of wood and are pulled (referred to as “sleds”).  The sleds are pulled about 15 feet and the weight goes up to 4,000 pounds.  Mr. Luikmil said that the Team travels around to different states and puts on shows for different events.

Selectman DeBold asked Mr. Luikmil what his thoughts were about parking and where would  all the trailers park.  Mr. Luikmil said that he thought the trailers could park in the town pit and the visitors could park along Bear Hill Road.  The event could take place in the town pit.

SUBJECT:  CHIEF PATRICK CLARKE

HIGHLIGHTS:

Chief Clarke met with the Board to tell them when he will be back to work.  He said that he might be returning to work as soon as March 15, 2005.  He told the Board that he would be at Town Meeting.  

HIGHLIGHTS:

The Board signed payroll and accounts payable.  

The minutes of February 22, 2005 were approved.     

Legal correspondence, mail and e-mail were reviewed.  

Being no further business, the Chairman Colbert adjourned the meeting at 10:15pm.

There will be no meeting on March 8, 2005
